The rector is a full-time priest elected by a vestry with the bishop’s approval, thereby having tenure. The responsibility for the conduct of worship and the spiritual jurisdiction of the parish are vested in the rector, subject to the Rubrics of the Book of Common Prayer, the Constitution and Canons of the Episcopal Church and the diocese, and the pastoral direction of the bishop. Fr. Pessah, his wife Beth, and sons Matthew and Nathan consider themselves blessed to be embraced by such a loving and caring community!
A deacon is a Christian church leader who, while not sharing the ceremonial and leadership responsibilities of a priest or minister, is responsible for caring for a parish’s congregation. Deacons have specific liturgical responsibilities in the worship of the Episcopal Church that are intended to reflect their role as servants of Christ. These duties include taking the Good News of God’s love to the world (proclaiming the Gospel), bringing the concerns of the world into the church (working with others on the prayers of the people), modeling servant hood (preparing the table) and sending the people of God out to serve the world (proclaiming the dismissal).
The Administrative Assistant’s role is “to fulfill the day to day affairs of the church which require ongoing attention and to perform broad-spectrum executive and management work thus relieving the pastoral staff of executive and clerical duties.”
